About Us (ctd)
Real Time Bus Information
The real time bus information system is a system that has been jointly
funded between Brighton & Hove City Council and Brighton & Hove Bus Company
via a Quality Bus Partnership. We work very closely with each other to
ensure the best possible service is provided for all passengers on the city
buses. The system will allow us to provide real time information via the
city transport web site during the summer of 2004. The system is GPS
based, which allows the Bus Company to effectively manage their fleet and for
the council to provide real time information.
The system has the added advantage to provide real time information via
mobile phone technology and provide talking bus stops for the visually impaired
throughout the city.
Close Circuit Television (CCTV)
The traffic control centre has access to all the CCTV cameras in
the city, this enables us to monitor traffic across the cities network and to
respond effectively and efficiently when incidents arise.
UTC
The city’s traffic signal system allow us to manipulate cycle
times and phasing of lights to accommodate the priorities the city has set to encourage the use of public
transport and enables us to implement alternative plans to deal with incidents and congestion within the city.
